Brand New!

Luckily, my high school got new band facilities, and they are NICE!  To celebrate, we had a grand opening.  I had the great opportunity of helping set up for the celebration.  We invited many members of the community and the school system and served light refreshments: cupcakes, nuts, mints, and drinks to be exact.  I created a cute cupcake stand, and it was super easy.

I found several boxes that stacked well.  I wrapped them in black and white wrapping paper from Target.  I had to be careful because the paper was not very thick, but it was the only place I could find the solid colors. After covering them in alternating colors, I added blue ribbon to the black ones and black music notes to the white ones.  I printed out music notes for patterns and traced them onto black glittered foam sheets and cut.

For the topper, I purchased the small Styrofoam block from the Dollar Tree.  I covered the block in the same black wrapping paper from Target.  Then I added some of the notes to the end of some white floral wire from Walmart.  I put an end of the wire through the top of the foam note, curled the wire, and stuck each one into the Styrofoam block.

To make the background on the wall behind the boxes, I created a blue paper medallion by fan folding several pieces of 12 x 12 card stock and gluing them together to form a circle.  Together with large letters from the same black glittered foam pieces, it looked great!  Add some wide black ribbon to the table and some sweet white bowls, and you have a quick and easy display!
